Welcome to WAC - Community Welfare Agency!

WAC - Community Welfare Agency (henceforth referred to as 'WAC') is a community-based NGO, located in Nairobi, Kenya, that was started by the Catholic church 20 years ago. It is involved in community development and poverty alleviation work in Nairobi's Eastlands, where 70% of the population live in informal and unplanned settlements.

Nairobi's slums are characterized by inadequate basic infrastructure, acute unemployment, poor housing and a high density of population.

Working closely with the community WAC runs several development programmes all aimed to address poverty and unemployment. They are:

  1. Shelter improvement programme
  2. Micro enterprise programme
  3. Savers Programme
  4. Community Organization and Training
    • Youth development initiative
    • Community health education initiative
  5. Dandora Community Chest Fund

WAC - Community Welfare Agency is registered under the Kenya NGOs Act and is regularly audited. A board of experienced professional oversees the organizations operations.
