First steps in funding the link

There are 2 ways to go about funding a North – South Link

1. External Funders

There are a variety of charities and trusts that will consider providing funds to help sustain your link. All you have to do is write to them or phone to request an application form. This funding will allow you to dedicate more of your classroom linking time to the real aims of your link

Contacting External Funders
We have gathered information on a variety of organisations, charities, and trusts that offer funding for this kind of project.

Applications
These will vary depending on the given charity or trust approached, but generally you should present them with information on the background of the project and its importance to the students of your school, details of what the money granted will pay for, and a vision of what will come from the advancement of your link.

2. Fund-raising

This method of funding your link can be fun, but you should make sure that this does not take over the whole link. Keep in mind that your link should enhance your curriculum and broaden your student’s awareness of the world.
Concentrating all your classroom activities on funding an exchange will limit your link and probably shorten its life span!
