WHAT WE ARE ABOUT
Partnerships in School Linking has
been given major funding by the Department for International Development
(DFID), in order to facilitate and support schools across Lancashire and
Cumbria who are linked or who would like to link with partner schools in
the South (including Africa, Asia, Central & Latin America, and the
Pacific).
North-South links can help
challenge prejudice, stereotypes & preconception about other
countries, while promoting basic skills and potentially enhancing all
areas of the curriculum.
We believe that the most
successful links are based on equal partnership, with each partner
having the space to express their own aims, and in which there is some
commitment towards agreeing joint curriculum project and shared
initiatives. Both partners can benefit greatly from a link, each has
much to learn, and the potential for enhancing the curriculum is
unlimited.

We also recognise that there are many practical problems associated with
school links, not least the difficulties of communicating across vast
distances, or of raising money for exchanges.
