The Global Skills Project was a 3 year project funded by the Department for International Development (DFID).
Its remit was to incorporate the global dimension into the national adult basic skills strategy: Skills for Life.
Through working with Skills for Life English, ESOL and Maths tutors, the project aimed to:

  1. Support Skills for Life tutors in incorporating a global dimension into their delivery of the curriculum
  2. Increase awareness and understanding of global issues amongst adult Skills for Life students and tutors
  3. Disseminate the project outcomes nationally through resource packs, web pages, training events and conferences

The project worked with SfL tutors in a variety of settings, from community SfL classes to prisons.  The project officially  ended in March 2008, however training in embedding a global dimension into Skills for Life classes is still available (see downloadable flyer below), as is the English/ESOL resource pack - 'Global Skills: Understanding The World Through English' (see below).
