Fairtrade in the Primary School

Course Details:

Course leader: Catherine Naylor

This course will equip teachers with the knowledge and tools to help young people understand their role in a globally interdependent world and to explore Fairtrade as one of the strategies by which they can make it more just and sustainable. We show how teachers can support global learning throughout the school by working towards the new Fairtrade Schools Award.

Teachers will return to school with lots of activity ideas, curriculum advice, resources and inspiration!

Global Learning and Creative Writing

Course Details:

This is a new CPD course for KS2 and KS3 teachers, which explores Global Learning through the Creative Writing process. The session is delivered by a published author.

The session begins with an exploration of the key elements of good global education before moving on to its application in Creative Writing. The author demonstrates how to break down the key elements of a good story into its essential components and then encourage the development of critical and creative thinking, promoting self-awareness, empathy and open-mindedness.

Global Wise Clubs

Course Details:

Global Wise Club is designed to engage KS2 children with the wider world. Games and fun activities teach children about how they are globally connected; help them to discover and discuss issues that affect us all and decide how best to take action to build a better, fairer world. . .in other words, how to be active global citizens!

This 2-hour training course for teachers and TAs looks at how to approach global issues with children and provides all the resources and know-how you need to set up a Global Wise Ckub in your school.

Global Teachers Award Level 1

Course Details:

Launched by the Consortium of Development Education Centres and endorsed by OXFAM, the Global Teachers Award (GTA) supports teachers in developing the skills, confidence and practical approaches to incorporate global learning into the curriculum and to promote active global citizenship in the classroom.

Level 1 consists of six hours of training focusing on the key concepts of global learning and practical ideas for incorporating global learning into the curriculum. Level 1 will be awarded upon completion of a short classroom based activity and reflection.
