Britain as a diverse society,
how limited information, images from the media and our own experiences can lead to misconceptions of people and place.

Skills in:

communicating their own opinion and joining in participatory activities,
making friendships outside their own environment,
distinguishing between fact and opinion,
detecting bias and stereotypes,
confidence and self-esteem,
challenging prejudice about other people and places,
exploring their own perceptions of people and place.

Values and attitudes:

respect for the differences and similarities between people and places,
empathy for others, and for other peoples' needs and rights,
commitment to challenge inequality and injustice,
value different points of view,
show an interest in other places and lifestyles different from their own.

Note: Due to the many different themes and curriculum links that are possible for a school link the potential learning outcomes for the children and young people involved are endless.
