The Global Skills Project was a three-year project funded by the Department for International Development (DFID). Its remit was to incorporate the global dimension into the national adult basic skills strategy, 'Skills for Life'.

Through working with Skills for Life English, ESOL and Maths tutors, the project:

1. Supported Skills for Life tutors in incorporating a global dimension into their delivery of the curriculum.

2. Increased awareness and understanding of global issues amongst adult Skills for Life students and tutors.

3. Disseminated outcomes nationally through resource packs, web pages, training events and conferences.

The project worked with SfL tutors in a variety of settings, from community SfL classes to prisons.  The Global Skills project was also included as a downloadable case study on the Environmental Association of Universities and Colleges SORTED (Sustainability Online Resource and Toolkit for Education) website.

The project officially ended in March 2008. However, training in embedding a global dimension into Skills for Life classes is still available. Please email us for more information.

You may also purchase the English/ESOL resource pack, 'Global Skills: Understanding The World Through English' for £9.99 via our 'Publications for Sale' page.
